“Kids Are Special” is our weekday ministry program for 3-5 year old preschool children and their families.
It’s designed to provide a loving, nurturing, Christ – centered environment in which children can grow and learn through experiences appropriate to their age level. Music, crafts, stories, games, and many other tools of learning are used in our program.
This program is offered every morning 9:00am – 12:00pm Monday through Friday September through May each year.
Our paid staff includes a program director, two teachers, and two teacher’s aids. We believe that a paid verses volunteer staff provides consistency and quality, both important components when working with young children.
Our staff values each child as a special gift from God.
Constantly re-evaluating new and better ways to achieve a
pleasant, nurturing environment for the social, physical academic and spiritual
development of each child, periodic training sessions help us stay fresh in our
approach to working with young children.
We also value interaction with parents and consider
ourselves partners in the privilege of starting these little ones off on the
path of life.
Children may attend one or two days, or every day of the week. The requested donation is $12.00 per child per session with a family discount available. There are no registration fees, all supplies are provided and no donation is requested on days the child is not in attendance.

Social: This area will help your child begin to see how he fits into the world around him. He will play by himself, side-by-side with other children, and in groups. He will learn that it is fun to take turns, to share belongings with others and to have others share with him. He will begin to see that good manners will help him get along well with others (raising his hand to ask a question, listening while someone else has a turn to talk, lining up at the drinking fountain, etc.)
Physical: We stress both large and small motor skill development appropriate to the age and stage of the children. Large motor skills include hopping, skipping, and other body movement exercise. Small motor skills are using crayons paints markers etc. to make lines shapes and so on. Scissors, folding, and gluing are also presented. Alternating active times and quiet times helps the children extend their attention span.
Academic: Our aim in academics is to prepare the children
for what will be expected of them in kindergarten. We feature one letter of the
alphabet each week, working on the sound it makes, what it looks like and how
to write it. Math readiness is developed through counting, sorting, grouping, and
patterns, etc.
Spiritual: We are a Christ-centered program which means that we seek to honor Jesus in every area of our KAS program. Our music, stories, crafts and conversations… everything about our program will be consistent with Christian family values high moral standards and wholesome language. One of our centers each day will be a story or lesson theme which helps the children to know that Jesus loves them and that God has a special plan for each one.
Several events each year are hosted that parents, grandparents, and siblings are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We are located in Davis Illinois. We serve families in Davis and in the surrounding communities.
Open House dates and beginning dates for "Kids Are Special" are sent out mid summer.
